I parked in Golden Acre Park but quickly escaped the Bank Holiday crowds via the Leeds Country Way through Eccup Whin wood then the Dales Way link path. The bag proved easy, the pillar is behind a dry stone wall near the trees on the West side of the wall. It's only a short detour from the ROW and easily seen. Fencing has now gone from near the trig and condition is good, plastic plug, no damage. Worth continuing N over the brow for a fantastic view of Lower Wharfedale, Wharfedale rail viaduct, Almscliffe Crag. Leeds becoming the Dales. This trig also has a pub nearby, had a pint in the beer garden.

Log #39. (165m). First visit 15-08-09. Bagged while leading a Ramblers circular walk from Golden Acre Park. (Milestone - my first trig, although I cant count it because although I took photos, I accidently deleted them). Revisited today while doing a 6.7 km linear walk from Alwoodley to Bramhope. Took photos this time. Also was spotted by the Farmer who was curious what I was doing, as the pillar is off the ROW. I spent a very pleasant half hour riding round with him in his Land Rover, talking over old times, like us old folk do, while he inspected all his fencing. He,s a lucky guy, as the views of Wharfedale from all over his farm are fab. Today unfortunately, theres this confounded fog so I cant see into the valley. High score tho, as I saw the views the first trip.

Parked in Eccup Lane a short way down from The New Inn, near where the footpath crosses road. The footpath enters the farmyard where there was a horse and several sheep grazing. Followed footpath for about 750 metres then turned right and walked up along field boundary where pillar is standing between stone wall and fence. On my return I spoke to two farmers and a youngster who told me they were planting barley ( like the 3 men in the song ?). A good half hour round walk in the countryside. Warm, hazy spring day.

The pillar Sooner or later a farmer will come along and secure something to the pillar with a length of sisal !
