Parked on the Sedbergh - Kirkby Stephen road and walked up the vertiginous but stepped route to the side of Cautley Spout (don't look down if you don't like heights !). Walked back down the other side of the gill using the narrow path which goes diagonally down the side of the hill. Trig in good condition with concrete/resin plug - relatively recently painted. A lovely crisp December day with the tops covered in snow, hardly anyone about, and marvellous views all round inc. to the snow covered Lake District peaks. Everything considered this Trig Point warranted my first score of 10. Wainwright described the view from The Calf as the finest panoramic view in all of Northern England and I have to agree.

The Calf a snow covered south-west Lake District behind and my faithful walking shoulder bag next to the trig - will have to be replaced soon though (the bag that is).
