Walk by en route from Amex stadium to the coast.. Hyper busy & busy new road probably the cause of its demise, next to the bridleway that was probably the old road

I have passed many times and not been able to find this trig. Looking at an old map (link below) and comparing it to a more recent map, I suspect the road used to follow the path of the bridleway to the east of the current road. It was probably re-built on top of the trig. https://tinyurl.com/ydgk8q2c

Have traversed this road hundreds of times when I lived just a few miles away. Too much traffic to stop and put my feet on the site, but will do so next visit.

I've travelled along this stretch of road many times and never seen a pillar. I have an OS one-inch map No 183 edition A/*/ which shows the trigpoint on the west side of the road. This map has a full revision date of 1954-7, with major roads revised in 1964. The following map of the same series (edition B) shows it as missing. This map was fully revised in 1967. This seems to tie in with data from the OS which suggests a destruction date of 10/65. It is possible that there may be some remains hidden in the hedgerow on the bank at the side of the road. However, given the speed of the traffic at this point, it would take a brave person to investigate!

Reference given appears as spot height in middle of road on my maps. We drove along it, and couldn't see anything on verges.
