Only the concrete base and some iron rods remain of this trig, but it was a nice day with good views all round.

Parked at Comley Farm, walked up and over The Lawley, then on to Lodge Hill (Causeway Wood trig). Lovely bright sunny day with cold wind blowing. Not much of this pillar remains.

The concrete base and cut off steel supports still showing, but trig has long since gone. An interesting weather vain now stands to the edge of it - making the trip to the top of this beautiful hill even more interesting. I bagged this one on a walk from Church Stretton, taking in Lodge Hill and Caer Caradoc too. You can follow the route of this walk and a write up by typing 'Fell Finder' into Google.

Latest of many visits up here, but few of them were as windy as this day. As reported for years, the trig's long gone, with just a couple of angle irons remaining in the concrete base.

Lovely spot pulled off on the side of the lane to the SW of the trig and climbed up with the whole family. Tended to neglect this area in the past but that may change now I'm chasing Deweys.

Walked across the Lawley, then Caradoc. Great day for it, loveley walk; just a shame that the trig’s history. Does anyone know just what happened to it? Irritatingly, my GPS decided to throw a major wobbler: no satellite signals, and so no location. Really annoyed: destroyed the last one by letting someone drive over it, now the replacement seems to have packed up unaided.

I've got an old OS map which shows the trig but it isn't shown on the latter ones or on Streetmap, came across the base on our way to the cache on Lawley.

FB number taken from a previous visit, on 4 Sept 1989. As far as I can recall, there was no damage to the pillar at that time. Now only the base with stumps of the angle irons remain. No sign of the upper centre mark. Windy ascent. Views including the Clee Hills, Long Mynd and the Wrekin. [Note added September 2005 - according to local knowledge, the pillar was struck by lightning and split in two.]

So...two of us up here on the same day? Needed the walk after the pub lunch and snowdrops - and it really is a climb up here! You can just about make out where the pillar was - I wonder why they removed it? It's on my old Landranger map but not on my current Explorer. Still, the views over Shropshire are well worth the effort to get here. Great spot!
