Third visit. With group. Approached from west. Parked on verge, east side of B6359 at NT531241. Followed boundary lines clockwise around first field then continued NE alone second field edge to wooded area. The trig resides inside the southern edge of the coniferous wood called Middles Roundle. Not the easiest pillar to find. Column in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre plug with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces ENE. Vented through SE sight hole. No view from pillar, but would have had line of sight with at least Eildon Mid Hill, Peniel Heugh and Minto Hill before the woods were planted.

Parked on verge near gate SW of trig. Walked across pasture up to the trig field. Crop growing in field but was able to tread carefully and leave no sign of my presence. Pillar is a few feet into the wood.

Parked at entrance to East Middles. Met friendly farmer and his wife, who kindly warned us about boisterous blond cattle in the top field! Fortunately no bovine encounters on this occasion...a quick jump over gate and along edge of crop field to search for the trig, which took a bit of finding as it was almost completely overgrown and sadly impossible to access.

Spot the trig!!
Had to make do with a point and bag!

Parked in Lilliesleaf--realised there is closer parking! My map showed a fenceline which is no longer there, so against my principles, I had to walk across recently sown field, little red seeds clearly visible on surface but no sign of germination so reckoned I would not do any damage.

Parked at gate entrance south of Lilliesleaf, short walk to crown of the hill then followed the field boundaries to the pillar. No views due to it's position in a copse but this has protected the plates from the elements.

Following comments from clochandighter revisited. Another 'Oops'. I plead trees at top not shown on my map, a very well camouflaged trig and increasing age leading to confusion and poor eyesight. Sadly it seems I will have to rely more and more on modern technology (GPS).

Reduced to rubble. Quite why I dont know as it must have been sitting in the line of the old hedge and as the edge left rough it wouldnt have been affecting the farmer.
