damage to the top edge, centre missing, concrete plug. I approched from the north, at the top of the hill A458 a path opposite a five bared gate leads first left then right up the hill, after 100yds go left at a fork, the muddy path keeps just to the right of the ridge. The pillar is just to the right of one of the steep little paths up to the ridge, use a GPS to find the right path.

A leisurely hour on foot from Bunker's Hill. Follow the highest ground south from the northern end of the wood and it ought to be easy to find. Unfortunately I came from the south and started searching a little too early and wasted a fair deal of time before finding it. Did a primary school XC race in 1986 which must have passed pretty close to it on the school side.

Concrete plug, FB E side, sights burried. Evidence of repairs carried out around the top edge, which have now failed. School must finish at 15:00, but no children making their way here. No views due to vegetation and the brambles may one day claim the trig for their own. As I only use a 1:25,000 map and a compass, I found hunting for this trig very difficult. Did it after estimating a bearing and distance away from the tennis courts.

At the top of the yellow road leading to Bott's Farm there are a big pair of green gates which lead to the playing fields of the school. If these are open you can drive in and park in the car park and make your way to the trig from there. If not, park opposite them and take a variety of paths which lead onto The Ridge as it seems to be used by all the locals for dog walking, horse riding etc. The trig is in the wooded bit opposite the tennis courts. Tarmac plug.

The number on the flush bracket doesn't match fasgadh's log. Like him, I took some time to find it as it's well hidden in an area of open-access woodland adjacent to Ridgewood High School - fortunately it's half-term week and so there were no kiddywinks about! The central plug has a concrete replacement and there is some damage to the top corners of the pillar. You can't really see anything from here in any direction and I imagine it would be even harder in summer when the foliage is on the trees. The one thing I really liked about it was that you can park in the carpark of 'The Foresters Arms' and have a pint after your efforts!
