Up from the A87 on the well built old stalkers path, nipped up to the Graham Biod an Fhithich before traversing round to the foot of the Forcan ridge. Scramble up the ridge was a joy, even though it started to rain, what a way to reach probably the best Munro in the area. Trig sits just along the ridge from the Munro summit & is a fine viewpoint,a Vanessa in good condition with a small commemorative plaque at it's foot. Continued over to Sgurr na Sgine before descending via Faochag back to the road.

My Munro #84 climbed alone. Seemed at the time an excellent way to spend Christmas Day, life's moved on since then... Having done the Ben Nevis arÍte 12 months earlier, the Forcan Ridge provided 2007's Xmas thrills. The icy conditions made for slow and steady progress, and reaching the summit seemed a massive achievement. Was able to get mobile signal at the summit (2007 was like the Iron Age for mobile technology, we all still had Nokia 3310s) and phoned the family to wish Christmas greetings, Christmas lunch consisted of a Mars Bar!

Dave Hewitts final Munro and giving me much grief seven years down the road for not realising at the time it was not the Munro summit and in the clagged in mist, not going out to the east summit couple of hundred metres away and hence after 2014 survey found that eastern top was 20 cm higher, becoming fake Munroist until I go back to bag the real summit!! Aaaargh! The shame.
