Superb viewpoint. Walked from Sand on Wright bay, along coast (Dam of Hoxa) and back via Roeberry house. Interesting hexagonal lookout, presumably converted from war defences? cut mark on Roeberry gatepost.

Nice circular walk (just under 7km) from St Margaret’s Hope although can park closer by if you wish. Easy wide grassy track from Roeberry house all the way up. Remains of a chambered cairn next to the trig pillar.

From Roeberry House. Good grassed track to the top. Pillar screed has a patina of hair fractures but otherwise sound. Original centre cap retained, raised lettering; RHS sight hole open, rear and LHS plugs degrading. Extensive panoramic views, N to Scapa Flow good.

Parked down at the bay and walked back up to Roeberry House. Easy walk up the lane. Lovely spot. With CJ.

Parked near Roeberry house and followed the track along side it's enormous walled garden, through a couple of gates to the trigpoint. Beware if you have a dog the wall on the right does have some gaps and the field is full of sheep! Lovely views from the trig and the ring cairn and lookout tower are also worth a look.

Good condition pillar. Took two goes to get to it. The more obvious track to the south of Roeberry was blocked by cows and bulls. Eventually went up the track to the north of Roeberry which was OK (bar some gulls and sheep). FB faces south-west-ish with south-east-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with sunken lettering. Excellent views. Bird hide (I'm assuming) nearby plus the remains of a chambered cairn.

Bagged with Jim Fothergill, getting five trigs in before the mid-morning Gills Bay ferry (the previous two, Little Wart and South Ronaldsay were repeats for me).

Greeted by protective oystercatcher sitting on the pillar. Good condition, plug in place but hidden under bird droppings!
