Great walk along the ridge, good views either side. Make sure you park in the designated area. Traffic wardens handing out tickets to those that don't and this was on a bank holiday weekend!

Lovely circular walk from Forest-in-Teesdale car park. Outwards via Birk Rigg, returning alongside the River Tees. Lots of squawking seagulls around nearby tarn.

Parked on B6277 designated parking and viewpoint. Walked sw over Cronkley bridge, south to the Pennine Way then WNW along Birk Rigg. Very strong head wind all the way to summit. Pillar located next to a small lake. No view due to low cloud. Spider missing. Return journey took in High Force and Low Force. A smashing walk with many interesting features en route.

Walking circular route from lay bye near school, Forest in Teesdale. Pennine way then Birk Rigg and trig near small lake. Moors very dry but did got some rain along river back to car.

Bagged as YSM245 Thistle Green. Well what can I say about this? 2.7km as the crow flies and if you'd started this at 10 o'clock I'm sure you'd say it was a very pleasant walk! However it was 4.30ish when we started and 6.30pm when we finished. The paths take you on some big dog legs and I found the one section quite steep. Once you leave the main track you need to skirt round the lochan as the ground around it is very very boggy. Lovely spot at the trigpoint and a wee goose sat guarding the lochan

Visited after viewing High Force with P61 on 6 Trig day out,we walked up from the car park at viewing area to the NE.Excelent walk up on Pennine Way & then made our own way up from footpath to the S of trig.Weather system blew in from Cross Fell a short rain shower,we then got into the lea of the hill for our dinner.

Good free parking at forest in teesdale viewing area on waymarked paths.Freezing northerly gale force winds had to put on extra insulation on as we battled against the wind.Great moorland area trig located next to a tarn great views to the surrounding fells trig in vgc no plug. Whilst sat having a brew out of the wind a peregrine falcon flew in swooping and diving around the nearby crags hunting for small prey don't think he had spotted us.

Set off from large car park next to High Force Hotel. Visited Noon Hill on the way out. Good views from trig (though it does not mark the highest point on the plateau). Quite interesting terrain.

Pleasant walk to this trig - did it norwegian orienteering style. Looked at the map in the pub and remembered the route. Pretty straight forward. Great views. However, there was some horrid weather heading my way so quick descent made.

free car park at NY 86754 29853 then path over river tees pennine way path to NY 86179 28269 south to NY 86038 28038 then west to NY 84456 28457 then go to trig which can be seen on your right lovely tarn by trig for my dogs to swim in views are wonderful from this trig worth the 2 hour drive a great area is teesdale i will be back for more trigs

Visited on circular walk from Hanging Shaw car park. Very windy at trig so didn't hang around too long, strangely named Thistle Green although Cronkley Fell would be a more obvious name. After descending had several blustery showers so thankful it was dry above at the trig.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 11th June 1960, cost not on record. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NY71/T4 in 1962. Levelled for height also in 1962. Last maintained by the OS in June 1983. SITE VISIT: Approached from ENE, Forest-in-Teesdale. Public car park off NE side of B6277 at NY867298. Followed mapped RoW network from SW side of B6277 at NY865298, to junction of routes at NY860280. Turn right (westwards) onto bridleway which leads to highpoint at NY844284, and then NW across mild heathery ground to summit. On open moorland top away from shooting ranges. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces east, ~83°. Vented through south sight hole. 360° open outlook.

Plug missing 8-( one sighting hole open. Bright and breezy day. Grouse shooters busy on the flank of Mickle Fell. Views of Cross Fell, Dun Fells and Meldon Hill but Cow Green reservoir hidden.
