From reservoir CP walked up road passing the not useful triangular tiny bit of access land. A couple of hundred metres over pasture to trig pillar - getting dark when I was there. Update - returned a few months later for a revisit - asked permission but it was not granted!

HISTORY: Pillar completed 25th September 1953 costing 15.15s.3d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SE38/T92 in 1955. Levelled for height also in 1955. Last maintained by the OS in February 1975. SITE VISIT: Approached from southwest. Free public car park and picnic site at SE181877. Direct line to top crossing fences and through open gates as appropriate. Near edge of grazing field. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces northeast, ~55. Vented through SE sight hole. 270 panoramic view, NW quarter blocked by house, farm building and surrounding trees. My visit remained unchallenged.

Doesn't quite chime with other comments but there we go. My advice is not to ask him for access as it won't be granted!

Visible and accessible by going onto private land. I parked at the car park near the reservoir and walked up the road and could soon see the pillar. Iwent to the house/farm to ask if I could visit but was advised that it is not actually on their land but didn't think the owner would mind. That was good enough for me. Access to the field is to the north from the road through a white gate and follow the fence line uphill. Everything in good order. Good views of the surrounding area.

I asked at the nearby house but found that the pillar is not on their land, now obvious from the name and map. Nevertheless, I was told the owner would not mind, so I accessed from the gate at the bottom of the hill, north of the pillar. Good views, but rather grey today.
