Parked on Winthorpe Avenue and walked the 100 metres up to the pillar. This isn't the closest I've ever parked to a trig point, but it's up there. On the side of a fairly busy road, Not on a hill but the views are decent as not many buildings nearby.

Not the best looking one I found, but it was easy with parking for a short while 100m away. Views are OK but not mind blowing. Trig 1 of 6 for our Christmas day trig bagging outing!

Pillar itself is right next to a main road but there is a nice way up to it from Throstle Carr Beck.

(1722) Winthorpe Avenue for parking. Short walk from there to the pillar. The A654 is busy with fast moving traffic and there's no path on the side that the pillar is located. Overall good condition, though the centre cap is non original. Pillar history: Built on the 7th of December 1946, at a cost of £5 6s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in July of 1986.

Roadside of a very busy very fast road

An easy roadside bag en route to a game at the John Charles Centre. I planned to park in the very close field track entrance, but the rocky ground and vegetation didn't look great, so I parked on Whinthorpe Avenue and walked up. Middleton Lane is extremely busy, with fast-moving traffic thick on both lanes - keep your wits about you for this one. Pillar in good condition, plenty of thick vegetation but easy enough to flatten to inspect the flush bracket.

Never really been here in Thorpe amidst a maze of motorways at the interchange. The place itself seems ok, easy parking to West on new estate but road is a bit busy so a bit of a tig saw me home amidst the rush hour audience. Bagged - view to the east looked best but still dark nights....

Visible and accessible. Road side location (A654) on bank in hedge line so no problems locating this one. Pillar in good condition with plastic plug and two holes open. Semi-rural location but views nothing to rave over.

Very easy one to spot although the surrounding foliage is pretty high in June. I parked on nearby housing estate as recommended. They must be fed up with rhubard, looks like there must be more money in curly kale this year.
