Final one today (walked in from Crook Rise Crag Top and Cracoe Fell). If coming from this direction follow the grouse butts from the wall and then take the path north east at the sixth wooden grouse butt from the wall - takes you straight to the trig. The track leading away from the trig fades to nothing quite quickly though - so head north and pick up the 4WD shooters track. Some of the easiest heather bashing I've done. Trig is looking very knocked about with huge bits missing from the top and more in danger of going soon. Good aspects though if you like heather moorland and not bad access considering position.

Judging by previous comments I thought this trig was going to be pretty dull. However, having walked through the mist & fog from Rylstone the sky cleared & sun appeared when I was just 400yds away. Needless to say the views were pretty good in all directions. If you don't want to trog through wet bog all the way to the trig I suggest ascending to Barden Moor from Rylstone and following the wall past Rylstone cross and the obelisk. About 900yds past the obelisk there is a line of numbered grouse butts starting at no.11 adjoining the wall. Walk along the line until you reach No.5. Just past this take the track heading East that will lead you directly to the trig. On a clear day the trig can be seen from the obelisk. The trig is damaged and I've included a photo.

Came up from Skipton via Embsay, Crookrise, the cross & the obelisk. Approached off the wide track directly to the north. Yomp up a very wet moor wasn't great and you don't see the pillar until you're quite near the top. The trig's on a bit of a plateau with limited views other than to the east & it's head has had a dose of GBH. It's worth noting there are several disused pit shafts in the area which aren't covered so take care. Ended up in Cracoe. No cars, on foot!
