My second visit, different route. Parked at Corbie Linn CP and walked up to the fabulous Three Brethren, TP still gleaming white! Onward W along SUW to the end of the plantation to the N and over a large stile and followed tracks S over Foulshiel Hill before sharp descent to Tibby Tamsons Plantation. Good path through the plantation comes out a couple of pasture fields N of Harehead Hill TP. After bagging that Trig we went back to look for Tibby Tamson's grave (really tragic story behind this, worth looking it up). 8.6 miles, 1,400 ft ascent, 2 great Trig Points, wonderful views, fab weather - a brilliant day out with Ceri Evans.

Note that much of the forest shown on my copy of LR73 (1988) in square NT 43 31 has now been felled. The pillar boasts three plaques declaring that it has been adopted by the Hoolet Hikers, who clearly give it a lick of paint whenever they are passing, because the paint work is immaculate. The pillar is slightly damaged, with a chunk missing from one of the top corners. A nice setting with the three large cairns, and superb views in all directions.

Three Brethren is approximately 3 miles northwest of Selkirk. The summit is an open moor and is on the Southern Upland Way. The name of this location is derived from the three large cairns which crown this top. Access is open from all directions but easiest following marked paths.
