Perhaps due to the limitations of cartography at the 1:50,000 scale, the pillar is shown close to the line of the path from the west, north of the pylon route, but in reality the pillar is on the pylon line. We reached the wrong side initially, having to walk back along the hedge to get to the track on the other side.

Walked in from the west along field edge. Not much sign of a footpath on the ground. The FB was partially buried so Brisey did a good job at cleaning it up with a stick. Went around to the track side to take a photo before returning the way we had come.

Headed along the path shown on the map through a very muddy field to find the trig next to a road which would have been much easier going. Didn't encounter any GOML's. Flush Bracket is quiet buried and I struggled to get a good shot of it.

What's going on? Three visits this month to this unromantic spot from the trigpointing community! All quiet today, so hopefully the past interrogations are no more. And then on to see the two bottom clubs in the whole of the Scottish League namely Clyde and East Stirlingshire (2-0) in a rather good game of football, both sides trying to play a decent passing game.

I walked to this East from Perth following the path marked on the OS map. Found the trig point easily after directly crossing previous field, near a newly constructed lake. I walked back down the lane to the Tibbermore road to walk back to Perth and there were a couple of guys parked in a pickup in front of the gate, one of which was on a mobile and seemed to be watching me as I climbed over the gate (as it was padlocked). I didn't really pay much attention at the time, but after reading the other posts on here, maybe they were looking out for me! Who knows as they never challenged me in any way, and i just carried on walking.

View to Bandirran Hill and Kings Seat. No GOMLs today, see earlier logs. I had with me evidence (old 6" map) that a continuous straight track once existed from Wester Cultmalundie to Perth. This track has been ploughed over on both fields, either side of pillar and the fenceline to the east has been removed to merge fields north & south. This route is still shown as a path on LR52, LR53 and LR58. I walked it again today. Other than the merged field, most of track can be retraced. Photographed 1/10/2005, GRP.

Took a while to find in the moonlight, and the FB was hidden by dead brambles, did not get a usable photo. Unremarkable except for the cold. Unlike the previous trig (1000 metres higher), there was no wind.

Second visit. On this occasion I was approached by a landrover. Its contents offered me 'help' with my directions which I did not need. They politely informed me that the land belongs to Lord Forteviot, whoever he is. Another useless piece of information I didn't need to know, but I thought I'd share it with those reading this. I was informed that the field to the west I was seen walking along the side of was not a footpath even though it is indicated as such on the maps. GOMLs also told be that there had never been a direct route eastwards to Perth from here, even though it was on my map. Unknown to them, I had walked it three years earlier. Either the GOMLs didn't know their local history or somebody was being ecomonical with the truth. GRP.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 5th April 1950 costing 12.11s.2d. In 1951 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NO02/T68 in the Perth secondary block. Flush bracket S6019 was levelled for height in 1956. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 1986. Spider retains OS plug with stamped font. Location is on notorious GOML territories! Nearby notices warn Private Property Duplin Estates Keep Out etc etc. This sort of rhubarb from the tweed hatted fraternity has no legal standing north of the border. Approached from the west, left via the east. This first visit went undetected. No photos taken. GRP.
