Braved traffic round the Bullington Cross Interchange. Ducked under barrier to right as you turn into access to Tidbury Farm. Rideable track parallel to A34, then grassy track around edge of Tidbury Ring. Convenient thin spot in hedge to duck through to reach pillar. Disturbed and noticeably leaning so classed as damaged. Visited on 16/5 and number commences with 165!

After being lucky with the weather for the earlier ones today, it peed it down while getting to this one. I left my bike at one point and continued up the path in the pouring rain. Saw chap in gig being pulled by 3 ponies on way back. Sort of made up for getting so wet!

Parked in NHS CP, Good Friday so no-one about. Spoke to a couple working in the stables, they suggested I walk up the field to the right of the trees to the top, over the track at the top and through a gap into the field - no crops so walked across to the pillar.

We parked at Tidbury Farm NHS car park (it was a Saturday afternoon so the car park was empty), then walked NNE along the line of trees. There were no private signs anywhere. Following previous logs, we walked on the left side of the line of trees, although one could just as easily walk on the right side of the line of trees. Once we got to the top of the line of trees, we went E along the track until we found a gap in the hedge to enter the field where the trig was. Our gardening tools made the gap in the hedge bigger for easier entry. There were 2 wooden pallets dumped on the ground where the gap in the hedge was. I imagine this would be a bit tricky in the summer months when there will be crops in the field. The trig had a pronounced lean towards the left (as you look at the FB), concrete base exposed, original metal cap with indented lettering. Following from the previous logger (jonglew), I left a 2p coin in the front sight hole (below the FB) for the next visitor to find. Not much to see at the nearby Tidbury Ring.

Parked just off Bullington roundabout at start of access road to NHS's Tidbury Farm premises. No public access so trespass required. Circular walk N along field edge (A34 seemed very close on other side of hedgerow), then round part of Tidbury Ring - a univallate Iron Age hillfort. Trig is 25m into recently ploughed field, more thick and heavy mud! Return directly SW to Tidbury Farm SE thence to car. Pillar is leaning and base becoming very exposed, otherwise in good condition. Original cap in place, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes open. Good views N and W; S and E obscured by hedgerows/woodland. PS. Thank you to previous visitor who left a 2p coin atop the pillar - my penny pot is non-discriminatory.

A fair walk around the fields following the footpath and trig is on other side of hedge/fence. Found a convenient gap and took pics easily enough. Good views especially towards the North.

Parked at NHS Tidbuy. Walked past barns then up field. If you park here it is easiest to keep left at the line of trees just after the barns. Once at top of field follow track to the East crossing into pillar field by the first tree. Good expansive views on a lovely October day. Pillar very good condition.

Fine little stroll up to Tidbury Ring, although the Iron Age Fort has been mostly destroyed by thoughtless farming: it was with some difficulty that I could determine where the entrance to this ancient site was (to the south-east.) The heavens opened as I left Tidbury Ring and sought trigpoint no: s1656, but it all added to the beautiful experience of trigging in such a hallowed historic area.

Only the last bit is trespassy. Metal plug, lightly indented. A stoat crossed our path on the way back to Tidbury Farm.

Looking at the map this one might be difficult but in reality there are no problems with access. We parked at the Barton Stacey junction on the A303 and headed for it. All the fields had margins and access was easy. A pleasant walk in nice countryside, we saw deer and rabbits. Pillar in good condition, plug with indented lettering.
