Parked at Tidenham Chase car park. Trig point is a 5-minute flat walk from there. Accosted by a friendly cow. Continued on to Devil's Pulpit and then down to Tintern via Offa's Dyke path. Beautiful day, beautiful area.

Clearly painted white donkeys years ago but now looking a very drab grey. As I had a small pot of white masonry paint and paintbrush ready in my car I brought it up the track, but limited time as at sunset and I wanted to get to trigged a HuMP summit up the road when it would inevitably be dark, I just painted the FB side only. Short of a roadside bag, this must be one of the easiest trigs to bag. There's a nearby car park and a path leads all he way to the trig point.

Parked at the car park to the E, then walked along the path to the trig. Easy find. Concrete plug. The 'stencil art' of the hand grenade and barking dog is still on the trig. Did a bit of gardening to tidy up the area around the trig. Went on to The Devil's Pulpit from there.

ODP#1: walking the southern half of Offa's Dyke Path - this pillar a short diversion off the main trail. Probably had good views of the Severn, but the shoulder high bracken is taking over. Asphalt cap, W s/hole open, others closed or buried, pillar has some graffiti but is otherwise in vgc.

The pillar stands next to a track in an area of reclaimed heathland to the north of Chepstow and to the east of the Wye Valley. The track runs directly from the Forestry Commission car park on the B4228 to the east. The trig is painted white; it has an asphalt plug and FB S/3378. The nearby woods restrict the view from the pillar. The Severn can be seen down to the southeast and the hazy outline of a small ridge on the other side of the river. My walk continued. Devil’s Pulpit is a fine view point of Tintern Abbey and the Wye Valley. Offa’s Dyke passes through the Shorn Cliff & Caswell Woods SSSI above the Wye. There is a memorial stone to Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in the woods of Parson’s Allotment. The heath of Poor’s Allotment is a SSSI and has good views down to the Severn. Cut bench marks were encountered on a stone gate post between the trig and the Devil’s Pulpit and on the end of St Michael’s Church. Rivet bench marks were found on a stone next to the entrance to Park Lodge and on the step of a stone stile opposite the end of Rosemary Lane.

Easy to locate and access, being close to the road. Last of 20 trig points visited during a week exploring the Wye Valley and surrounding countryside. This one was one of the more ordinary of those sighted.

A lovely white-painted pillar, although the paint is now fading a little. In an area of heathland reclaimation. There is an interesting information board on the way to the pillar from the carpark. Ashphalt plug replacement. This is one of those with the raised 'S' on the flush-bracket. W sighthole open, others closed. Lovely E views to Severn estuary.

Trigpoint is ghostly white. Well forested area so views aren't great, though it's a great place to walk. Passed a large bird of prey on the side of the road as I pulled up. It was very impressive as it flew off.

Spent a lot of timeby this one.. It was by the start of an orienteering event. In a quarried clearing in a pine forest. Remember the 2nd Severn crossing works being visible from nearby.

White pillar in clearing in scrub. Walked from viewpoint with its views over the Severn, then onto Devil's Pulpit providing views over the Wye Valley and Tintern Abbey.
