Very similar log as Aqua. I was on edge from that start having read Carole’s log. They clearly don’t want you to park at the end of the track and have invested in several signs! I also parked at crossroads to north, followed track to Beam farm, then mapped tracks past bales, over very rickety gate and through moorland to trig. Last section past small wooded area gets wet and boggy, so wellies are recommended. BSM-style FB. As I approached the trig I could hear an engine and thought here we go the GOML is on his way. It was a farmer in an Argocat, he clocked me and did a couple of circuits round me but never approached me. Very Barry dog at Beam farm so hard to be stealthy but got back to the car with no one having approached me directly. I had a speech all prepared too!

Walked in from Beam farm side, map tracks followable. Made easier as crops harvested. Best to keep to lhs of fence till opposite trig then it's only 20 yards of tussocks, waist high grass and boggy bits. 20 mins fast walk from car.

I parked up at the beginning of the ROW to Beam and followed the track marked on the map up to near the trig and jumped a fence to reach the trig itself. This is actually a nice quiet moorland spot with views at many points of the compass. The view westward is blocked by a forestry plantation however. I spotted Knock Hill and Longannet Power Station as well as the Blackhill and Kirk o Shotts transmitters. Also in view was the Denny and Fintry hills and there were particularly good views of Ben Vorlich, Stuc a Chroin, Uamh Bheag (spoiled by the Braes of Doune wind farm) and the Ochils. There were quite a lot of skylarks singing here which is always nice!

The view towards the Ochils This is a really peaceful and pleasant spot.

Came up Beam ROW. Worrying "dogs running free" notice on it. Lots of shooting going on to south of pillar so too risky to use marked track. Approached pillar from north but thoroughly soaked by waist level wet vegetation. Torrential rain on the way back to the car too. Summer?!?

Good condition pillar with only minor concrete spalling. FB faces east-ish with south-ish sighthole open only. No cap but asphalt plug. Good views especially to the north. Hazy today, but would be even better if clear. Followed Beam right-of-way from N then turned west along the marked path. Easy going underfoot due to dry weather but can imagine it very boggy if wet.

Keep forgetting to visit during the time the geese are away, finally got round to it. Approach was boggy - cycled up to the track end and then squelched across to the pillar. New conifer plantation growing near by - how did that get past the goose protectors.
