Enjoyed the walk up here despite 3/4 of the path being very boggy underfoot. We followed the fence line from the road nearly all the way to the top. Great 360 degree views. Snow added to the enjoyment. Make sure you look out for the three interlocking carved fish in Pictish style. https://canmore.org.uk/site/17252/the-buck Slightly damaged, because small amount of top surface missing.

Only logging visit now, five years after my trip to the top of the Buck. Remember have to cross a number of peat hags to get here and nearly sitting on a wasps nest.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 30th September 1952 costing 21.7s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NJ45/10 within the Elgin block during 1953. Levelled for height also in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in October 1978. SITE VISIT: Parked in roadside recess at NJ421251. Followed county boundary in straight line up to summit rocks. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces 77 ENE. Vented through NW sight hole. 360 panorama from top.

vgc except top screed damaged; metal cap, deep letters. Atop fine rocky tor. Clear path from NNE, boggy in parts, don't think it was there in 1998.

Came up here to place a cache - cycled up to top of scat hill nearby along the tracks, then bashed through the heather and bogs to get to The Buck - views good, but windy at the top

The Buck o' the Cabrach. A very boggy ascent and a wee scramble at the top. Supposed to be a good viewpoint, but not today.
