On holiday in Arran. Walked to Kings Cave on the Coastal Path then a detour through the woods from the footpath to the trig. It was in great condition and the views were spectacular. The wall was down in parts so easy to access. Loved this one

Having walked from car park anticlockwise to Kings Cave, then picked up the track back to the car park but then cut off east at the little pond straight through the trees, over the fence and direct to the trig. Easier than battling through the heather. Great views

Another immaculate pillar ?? Bit of a tough slog up through the Heather and bracken from the tourist path but worth it. Great views towards Blackwaterfoot and the cliffs beyond. Pillar retains original metal OS centre cap and spider bracket, plus a recent coat of whitewash. Clearly someone on the island loves their pillars.

Approached this from forest in the west. Walk up from directly south too tricky due to neck high ferns so walked up through forest and hopped over fence. Descended through fern forest which was fine if not hard work as they really are densely packed. Unlike the other trigs I've so far found on Arran this week, this one hasn't been painted in the last few weeks and therefore paint is flaking (this is fine) and flush bracket vaguely readable.

Good parking 4km north of Blackwaterfoot, primarily to serve the Kings Caves visitors. Path from the car park descends through the forest. Where it exits to continue over open ground to the caves the trig can be gained by turning east and climbing the short, but steep, hill along the forest edge. Good views across to the Kintyre peninsular. Pillar sports a fresh coat of white paint; has 1 sight hole open; original cap in place. Worth continuing on the path down the cliff to visit the caves.

There are 17 pillar trigs on Arran. To get to this trig it is best to park your car in the Kings caves forestry carpark and take the path to the left and keep going untill you reach a large pond on your right, you can take a short cut through the trees to your left which will take you straight to the trig after you climb over a low barbewire fence. If you dont want to risk the shortcut you are better to carry along the path untill you get to a gate and then turn left following the treeline to the top. Good views.
