Not specifically the trig today but the general strip of woodland for yet another, maybe final session of clearing a load more if the peppermint green plastic sleeves put on the saplings in 2011/12 when a mixture of cherry and oak trees are planted, though today in the fast east of the site about 120 metres from the trig I remixed plastic zheething from trunk of a holly tree. Also removed the final ones from the fast west of the site next to the Army Medical Services centre. The woodland is looking far better. It's been a far longer task than I'd ever imagined. Maybe 15-20 hours now spent over numerous sessions over past 12 months. Also randomly been snipping bits of the annoying bramble on bits of the site. I've made it easier to get in to the trig pillar over the last six months. At the bit of fence opposite the pullover on the opposite side. I've built brick step platforms to make it a bit easier specifically fur this with shorter legs. If any logger visitors want my compost and say hello when they visit, my local, two miles from my home. give me a call. veggibagger is Charles Everett 07988 741804. Access was very easy despite it being on MOD land and the proximity to the barracks/rifle ranges - the pillar sits a short way into light woodland next to the road, it is visible from the road, there is a handy little pull-in directly opposite, and the low (non barbed) fence is a simple hop. The famous peace poem and paint job is now a little faded, but the pillar is in otherwise fine condition. Asphalt painted cap.

cycled out to my local trig with son Jamie, thinking, foolishly that it would be mid to late August before the bracken was really high!! Also both of us were wearing sandals and shorts and I'd forgotten that there would be nettles there too. Although I knew exactly where the trig is, it couldn't be seen. Loads of rain in last 6 weeks had made a jungle of bracken already seven feet high. Even the fence which I knew to be approx 2 metres from the road was densely obscured with grass, bracken and all matted together with pussy willow. Not an experience for bare legs, so vowed to come back next day and take a pic of Jamie on top of the invisible pillar seemingly walking on top of the bracken.
