A walk with Alma Aurea up Fan Brycheiniog. We might have done a longer route but the good weather forecast kept changing and in the end we started late (and nearly didn't go at all). We walked up the valley to Llyn y Fan Fawr with the cloud just about clearing off in front of us, some showers and wind. It cleared off the main summit just in time so we continued up and finally the sun came out, but only late afternoon. A good trigpoint, just a pity about the graffiti all over it, looks a total mess like that.

Saw not a soul until we had the privilege of meeting a gentleman who knows a lot about Trigs. Further into our conversation he revealed he is a retired Cartographic Draughtsman from OS. Thanks Mr P Newton. I digress. After the customary photos, we descended via the Beacons Way. Surprised to find we’d covered 13km as it didn’t feel that arduous, even for a 60 year old fellow.

Lovely country here on the Black Mountain in the western part of the Brecon Beacons. A crisp day with some heavy frost on the ground at all levels, the trig looked in good condition, but the spider is a bit exposed.
