The pillar is showing signs of wind erosion on two sides. The plug is missing from the spider and has been replaced with a plastic disc. This pillar is easy to locate but does come with the best of views.

Spotted this one across the way when I came to a T junction on the A39 heading for Harlyn via Condolden barrow trig, so just had to do it. Reversed up to the locked gate off the A39, climbed over and ran to the trig, passing an old ROC bunker on the way (didn't check to see if it was padlocked). Blustery wind and driving rain made this a quick visit.

Local wildlife Why does his slimy trail start only part way across the FB? How did he get there - was he parachuted in?
