Cap missing. Lady of the house gave permission as long as we closed gates.

3/3 for day, on foot between llangadog and landovery. Approached on minor roads and bridleways, the latter being used by convoy of 4x4 vehicles with clients on off-road hols. Had long chat with farmer and his uncle who were quite happy with me visiting the pillar above the farm. Stunning weather, excellent views over llandovery and W end of Eppynt.

Parked just down the hill from the farm entrance at the start of the track through Allt Rhydings. Followed the farm track to the first gate on the left which I went through. There's a path from there to the trig.

Penlantelych farm is definitely an occupied, working farm and would recommend visitors call there for permission to visit the pillar. Lady I spoke with very friendly, chatted for 15 mins on Welsh place-names and pronunciation. Pillar has minor fractures on front face otherwise in good condition; cap missing, no plug; 1 sight hole open. Panoramic 360deg views. Located in sheep pasture.

Parking at the end of farm track, follow for 150m then across fields, mainly out of sight. Not sure if farm is occupied but tracks suggest it is worked.Observed a fox when at pillar that didnt seem too concerned by anything! Good views if the weather had been better, visited early morning after leaving waterlogged campsite visible from pillar. There is also an old ROC post within 50ft of the pillar.

Is the house actually occupied? it looked to be a holiday home or an outlier to me from the trig. Missed the crack on site and barely visible on photos still feels "good" to me though the plug is missing and hasn't been substituted. Nice views down the valley to Llandovery.

missing plug but why the string?©rhayader_wanderer
