Christmas Day and an empty golf course, parked at the club house and walked up to the trig. Few golfists out and about on the way back. Nice view over the airport if you like planes.

From Cammo Walk carpark, through the trees to the high wall. There is a break in this wall with some equally high fencing discouraging access to the golf-course, but it's easy to slip through. Found the trig easily enough, but I don't like having to cross fairways when there are plenty of golfers about especially after what they've needlessly done to the pillar. Picked a busy time unfortunately.

Parked at the northern gate to the Cammo Country Park and took the right hand path. Eventually came to the park boundary wall and found a collapsed section just east of the pillar and up the slope. Sunny June evening at 5.30 and the course was deserted, just the noise of aircraft taking off from the next door airport for company.

I snuck on to the course from near to Cammo House. I could see what I thought were golfers on the tee next to the pillar. One called me over and asked if I was looking for the trig. It turned out that it was the greenkeeper in fact. He wanted to know if I was plotting maps or something. I told him with some authority that I was here to inspect it and he seemed happy enough with that, leaving me alone to do my thing. I gave it a quick once over before making some swift tracks out of there.

First visit. To record FB number. HISTORY: The pillar was completed 12th June 1944 costing 1.8s.4d. Later in 1944 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT18/T58 within the Dunfermline Secondary Block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1966. This trig point was last maintained by the OS on April 1980. SITE VISIT: On a private golf course. The FB number S3271 was something of a surprise, and my first hat trick. This was just my second year of trig bagging but with less than thirty trig FB numbers under my belt I had already found S3269 and S3270 - on either side of Weston Supermare!
