One of the best walks of the year. At last a beautiful day, parked just outside Longformarcus SUW to the magnificent cairns (almost neglect the trig) then the long wild ramble - estate tracks to the Dirringtons. Majestic and huge despite their low height. To make things really special find the moved trig which OS does not show, at least it's still there and the ancient cairns are wonderful too. Back in dusk as first redwings of the year call.

Nice and easy walk up the Southern Upland Way from Watch Water reservoir. Interesting pair of cairns which proved very useful for lunchtime shelter. Didn't hang around as it was rather chilly for July and the rain was threatening!

On return from Twin Law to Blythe I walked along the Southern Upland Way for a bit. Found a strange wooden pillar with wee circular doors. Investigated and found a "hoard" of shiny SUW coins inside, sponsored by Tweedbank Primary school.

Top has been repaired long ago. Trig dazzling white. Metal cap, deep letters. In common with Iainmac I find this is my last LR67 trig - something to do with its relative remoteness I guess. Plaque on trig refers the 2 big cairns to 2 brothers and the Battle of Twin Law. Visitors book in NE cairn soaking wet. >3h drizzly circuit incl Constable Hill, from Blythe.
