Almost missed this one as was looking for a sign for brothers point. There's no sign but is where it says to turn off on Google maps. Parked at entrance which has a sign saying "chase the moon", then a short walk up the hill and the trigpoint is on the left overlooking The brothers point. Stunning views.

HISTORY: Pillar built in 1957, exact date and cost not on record. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NG24/T78 during 1958. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision tertiary standards also in 1958. Last routinely mantained by the OS in 1978 but continues to serve as a GPS passive station. SITE VISIT: Approached from southwest. Layby on west side of A955 at NG515625. A gate at the north end of the open plot opposite leads into a fenced triangular plot which rises to the height of the embankment. From there, one fence climb leads into the trig field. Grazing land. Pillar in good condition with weathering GPS plate. Plastic cap in spider. Flush bracket faces southwest, compass measurement 235°. Vented through back (NE) sight hole. Full 360° panoramic outward view and downwards to the coastline.

Very short walk into this trig which can see just after joining the minor road signposted to Brother Point after parking in layby just north of Glenview Hotel. Trig in good condition, shame about the plastic plug, however the views are outstanding over the west coast mainland of Scotland, Brothers Point, Raasay, Rona, the Storr etc. The real jewel in the crown of this trig is the walk onto Rubha nam Brathairean (Brothers' Point). The path climbs very steeply over Dun Hasan, the site of an Iron Age fort and gives superb sea views and the idea of isolation. Peace perfect peace and a mile of miles away from my day job!

Pillar found in reasonable condition but with horizontal crack extending across the LHD side. Cap missing, composite plug; rear sight hole open; off-set spider. Log #139. Hadn't planned to do this one, but spotted it on the radar on my way to Staffin. I parked just off the road, in the entrance to the gated track just west of the pillar. From there, over one barbed wire fence - it's quite slack, so a pain in the bum (literally) to climb - then in the southeastern corner of the field, you'll see a gate. Climb over that, then you are at the pillar. Be careful, as it is very close to the edge of the cliff. Passive plaque is present but unfortunately the plug has been replaced with a plastic disc. The pillar is otherwise in good condition. [ExP-126/MiP-2/Rev-1/BM-9/Other-1]
