He explained the trigpoint was in the bosses garden and had been removed and put back when the sand mound was shortened and stabilised. He also mentioned Nicolas Crane with his brolly from coast had visited. His wife also mentioned that they often see 'baggers' at night sneaking around at the back of their caravan....best ask for permission here!

I was enlightened to this by a friend of mine, a trig point, just a couple of miles from where I was born and grew up. As I parked up, the owner of the property happened to pass so I struck up conversation and he was kind enough to allow me passage into his garden to visit the trig. It is situated on a small hill within his garden. Fine views abounded in all directions from Brean Down, Brent Knoll and across Berrow Beach to the Quantock Hills. Right. Serious stuff. The owner of the property is a nice chap but I got the feeling that a polite telephone call to the adjacent caravan site that he owns (Beachside Caravan Park) to book a visit might be advisable.

The owners of this property also own the holiday caravan park behind called 'Beachside Caravan Park. I enquired politely at the caravan park reception about gaining access to the TP and they were very accommodating, so consequently another TP bagged. Apparently it is not unusual for triggers to ask for access and indeed among them is one Neil Oliver presenter of the BBC series Coast, who was researching for said series.

The pillar stands on the top of a stabilised dune inside a caravan park in the south of the coastal village of Brean. Some of the caravans were occupied and there were men at work around the site. The trig appears to be in the private garden of one of the caravans; there was nobody in. I settled for a view of the pillar from the exit road of the site; 20 metres away. All that can be seen are the surrounding caravans and houses. The nearby beach has views north to Brean Down; across the Bristol Channel to Flat Holm, Steep Holm and the Welsh Coast and hills; south and west to the coast of West Somerset, the Hinckley Power Stations and the Quantock and Exmoor Hills. There was rather a lot of litter strewn across the dunes but from some of the higher points you can see inland beyond the caravans and the Levels to Brent Knoll and the Mendips. The beach is part of the Bridgwater Bay SSSI and part of the nearby dunes have been designated the Berrow Dunes SSSI.
