There is a note at the gate to the garden stating that you are welcome to visit the Trig as long as you shut the gate after. Pity a few more aren’t so obliging.

re-visit. rather than the usual direct way up into Ripley on the B6179, I turned off on the line of the Roman Ryknild Street, and the B6374. Just off driveway/ROW behind houses. Previous visit (1st) on walk with friends, so now here by bike.

Visited as part of a Heage loop walk. Gained permission from land owners. Great view over to Crich stand. This Trig has had a lot of changes over the last 16 years!

(1907) Knocked on but no-one in at the farm, but I did spot someone at the stables, and they said it wouldn't be a problem to have a closer look "They are used to folks wanting to see the pillar..." So with that it was all good. Readily visible from the PRoW, and the gate was open anyway. Pillar in good condition, and retaining it's original cap. Slightly submerged but the FB is fully readable. A couple of chickens wandered over to see what all the fuss was about whilst I was there. Pillar history: Built on the 1st of April 1948. Build cost not listed in the records. Last maintained by the OS in April of 1983.

4/8. Requested permission to access the field behind the farm, the owner had no problem with me walking through the gate to log the trig. All metal work intact. Interesting to see how the immediate surrounding has change from the early logs !

A nice sunny day parked on b6374 walked back to farm; got talking to the farmer he was very easy to talk to i asked if i could go to the trig he sade yes but close the gate beoaurse of the horse in the field;

arrived at the farm,the lady was outside so no probs asking.she was very friendly,pointed out where it was,through the gate.views not too bad,felt a bit jealous this trig was in the back yard,what i'd give for that!!!

Owners of house were outside and opened the gate for me. Very friendly and had a five minute chat about what the pillar had been used for. They seemed pleased to have it there - certainly not under any threat. Lovely clear evening on first full day of London 2012.

Road walked from the plantains into Upper Hartsay,was studying map when car horn woke me up ,the driver turned out to be an old work friend i had not seen for ages turned out he was now working in Brazil,up road turned onto footpath on left Trigpoint next to greenhouse dogs barking photo and grid taken move out of yard,Good views to Alport Hights ,Crich Stand and Black Rocks,down road to bus stop it is now a super evening wonderful skies.As bus passes Morley Farm a view to Trig in evening sun.

Easy to find. At back of house by road, public access, next to greenhouse and water butt. Buried a few inches so seems very low. All metalwork there, sight holes not visible.Good views in one direction.

What I saw today looks rather different from the pictures posted previously. It is now standing next to a greenhouse - so either it is in a slightly different location or the area has been redeveloped. Wish I had taken a photo now

After dark visit. Parked in layby with telephone box and proceeded through small gate over snowy field to find pillar by dry stone wall. Footprints in the snow suggested rabbits had beaten me to the pillar. Local inhabitants appeared not to notice flash of intruder's camera!
