Parked at laybye at Venlaw High Road at foot of hill. Space for about 6 cars, but plenty parking nearby in town. Nice uphill woodland trail, steepish in places but only for short spells. Trig Pillar in good condition with covering of white paint. Lovely views over town.

Parked on Ven Law High Road opposite Edinburgh road and a garage. Parking places for about 4 cars. A labyrinth of footpaths to this pillar which is situated in an open clearing. O/S map shows pillar in woodland. Trig has a fresh coat of white paint. Spider plug intact and flush bracket faces west. Spotted a red deer.

Surprisingly steep but straightforward walk up from Venlaw High Road on a cracking day. No views sadly, even continuing to top of hill, nowt. Still a very enjoyable wander through the trees. Already stopped at Innerleithen for an ice cream so went into town for a drink instead.

Parked alongside other cars on the hill along the road opposite Sainsburys. Sign for Cen Law Community Woodland. Followed rough track into wood and alongside the wall. Trig sits in the opening when the former settlement used to be. Alos my daughter's first Bag!

From Venlaw High Rd, parking roadside just after turn off for kennels (NT 2555 4074). Up through easy woods. Pillar has had FB and centre cap painted gold, looking a bit tatty now though. Cap has indented lettering; all sight holes open. In woodland, no views.

Parked just beyond Forestry Commission sign and walked back in the woods along a wee path towards a bench, then spotted GerryU2's wall which headed up hill in the correct direction for the trig. Followed this all the way up, took roughly 30 minutes, only 300m but steep and you needed lots of rests!

Parked to the south of the trig in a layby/passing place opposite the forestry commission sign. (On the boarding kennels track). Heeded Gerry U2s advice and walked back a few metres to see a walkers track. Turned right at the first bench and right at the second, following the trail arrows up the side of the wall remains. Careful not to overshoot the trig as its not at the top!

Unsure how to access this one at first as we were on our bikes. We found a path that went directly to to the top, it was a hot day and the path was steep so we pushed the bikes most of the way.

Tried to follow gerryu2's route, however there were was a succession of pairs of metal posts on the right hand side of the road so we just headed into then woods and used Viewranger to navigate to the trig - no issues with loss of GPS signal for us. Loved the copper paint on the metal parts, hadn't seen anything like that before :)

Went a silly huge circular way. Easiest way is to walk up the road towards the forestry commission entrance. Well before this, there are two metal posts on right side of road. Cross road to the large circular stone thing in the grass and walk above it. Then look for a bench further behind this. Look slightly uphill and to the right of bench for an old wall. There is a faint track on left side of wall that goes all the way to the trig. Unfortunately I only found this in the way down. A very enjoyable walk so close to the town. And good to see a Pokemon on the trig.

From near the road junction to the west there are woodland paths leading part way up, but I just headed through the trees to the pillar which is in a clearing, no views from here today

Very wet today and all paths fairly slippery but managed to find a fairly direct route to this one from the side road at the bottom and an even quicker way down. No real views but a nice area.

Third visit. For GPS reading and up to date photographs.HISTORY: Pillar completed 15th July 1958 costing £35.16s.10d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NT33/T13 in 1959. Levelled for height also in 1959. Last maintained by the OS in October 2000. SITE VISIT: Approached from southwest. Parked in side road on slope at NT253408. There are various routes via a network of woodland paths which lead to this trig. The pillar stands in a clearing in the woods which is well before the summit. Column in good condition. Spider retains OSTS cap with shallow engraved lettering which must have originated on an older pillar. Flush bracket faces west, ~274°. All sight holes open innards blocked with debris. No view, surrounded by trees in all directions.

The pillar is freshly painted, with copper coloured spider and flush bracket. There is no adoption plaque, but this is clearly someone's baby.

In a pleasant wood outside Peebles. Well looked after, painted and somebody regularly gets the Brasso out, all metalwork is polished and coppery coloured.

Pillar in very good condition and obviously being cared for locally. Recently painted, pillar white, spider & flush bracket gold!!! This TP is 440m west of and 39m below the summit of Ven Law. Walker friendly area. (GRP 22/03/03). Original visit, 1985.

First visit. To record FB number, my highest at the time.. The pillar was completed 15th July 1958 costing £35.16s.10d. In 1959 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT33/T13 in the Peebles secondary block. The flush bracked was levelled for height also in 1959. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in October 2000.
