OS have this marked as destroyed August 1954, 5 years after installation. As the spider and FB are missing suspect that's their idea of destroying a pillar - in this case. The pillar is located on a field boundary embankment immediately to the RHS of a paddock gate. It's easy enough to see from the roadside, easier now I've pruned back a lot of the vegetation.

Nearest trig to our holiday cottage. Still standing but now completely entombed in the hedge. As the removal of all metalwork looks like decommissioning cf vandalism, I wonder if this was replaced by the adjacent buried block (but why would you want to do that?!). Hedges somewhat restrict views but from the opposite gateway you can see a number of the trigs on the western edge of Dartmoor (Cox, and N and S Hessary Tors). [FB for logging purposes only].

The Trig is in a hedge at the cross-roads, just to the right of a field gate. You can clearly see it, getting to it is another matter. Bring pruning shears if you want to make a closer inspection. FB missing.

Possibly missing 14th Sep 2005  18:27  by Brisey

At the cross-roads, there is a hump in the verge that looks as though it was made for the pillar to stand on. No current map shows a pillar. However, as there are adjacent hedges that I did not search thoroughly, I list this as possibly missing rather than definitely missing.

TP6714 location? Showing the roadside hump where the pillar may have stood.
