My second visit, different route: came up the PROW from the SE, through High Warden and some pleasant woods and up to the radio mast before working out a route that best swerved the cows, who were in the Trig field and both the fields at the top of the hill adjoining it. This was easily achieved sticking to field edge of the field that runs up toward the TP on the eastern side of the dry stone wall. Coming up from Fourstones you’d emerge from the wood directly in the field with the cattle in with no option but to walk past or through them. Overall it’s a more pleasant walk to the pillar than the route from Fourstones, and well signposted through High Warden Farm. Decent views from the Trig, but nothing spectacular. Good Hill Fort on the top of the hill though - if the cows will grant you access to explore it...
