About a mile north of Barton Seagrave, pulled over on east of road at driveway to properties. Looked over gate of first property on north east side of the driveway, could see pillar on top of the reservoir. Knocked at door of house to ask permission, given although probably not appreciative of the knock before 8am. Around side of house, through gate onto reservoir mound. Whitewashed, spider and cap in place. View west towards Kettering although limited by surrounding trees.

(3080) Parked up near the houses. Called in but no answer. Reading the logs on here I then called in at the adjacent caravan dealers and met with the father. Permission readily given. 'Is this an anorak thing?' It seems the previous owner had wanted to flatten the reservoir, and had made a start, but thankfully hadn't got beyond that. Easy climb to the pillar which is in fine condition. Good views from the top with Kettering and St Peter's spire visible. Pillar history: Built on the 12th of March 1952, at a cost of £23 8s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 1984.

2/4 with Gav & Debi. Knocked at the house but no one in. The side was open, as was the gate to get up the steps to the trig. I held my camera and GPS up to their security camera, pointed up to the trig with a "please, would it be ok?" face, gave a cheeky thumbs up and popped up to it for a quick photo (which I assumed they wouldn't mind based on previous logs).

A joint visit with Carole. We parked on the roadside just by the track entrance to Warkton Lodge. From here the pillar is easy to spot from the road. However, it looks to have been incorporated into the adjoining house garden. We went to ask permission at the house but only managed to get a reply from a loudly barking dog. We may have been wrong but we assumed that it was alright to visit. Access was easy. Through a small gate and then up the stone steps to the top of the reservoir. Here is an assortment of children's toys, fair ground attachments and picnic tables. Among all these is a nicely white painted pillar. It is in good condition and still retains a metal indented lettered plug. On the way out we thanked the dog and seemed to receive an appropriate reply.

Located on the east side of Warkton resv which is now privately owned after being sold by the water board about 6 years ago. Owner has maintained the TP and resv very well. Owner was friendly if not bemused by the fact that someone was interested in his TP! Points of interest are the rare Bee Orchid growing wild on the grass bank of the reservoir and the locally produced honey made by the owner.
