An easy bag from the small lay by. Jon Glew clear the hedge from the north and the west sides of this trig but he still needs to go back and remove the hedge from the east and south side one day.

Parking in small layby on S side road, a little E of field gate used for entry into field. Followed field boundary to trig, located at end of a hedgerow, junction of fields. Pillar is mounted on a good sized rough plinth with thorn encroaching; cut back a lot of new growth, a saw would have been useful. Original cap is retained, indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open. Marked as 'Slightly Damaged' due to badly chipped top edges. Extensive 360deg panorama: Bristol Channel, Quantocks, Exmoor etc.

The pillar stands on an ivy covered rough concrete plinth at the end of a hedgerow at the junction of three arable fields to the west of Watchet. It has a metal cap with shallow lettering, the top edges of the pillar are a bit battered and it has FB S3756. The trig can be easily reached from the nearby road but I chose to walk up the coastal path from Blue Anchor. The site has a good view to the northeast across Bridgwater Bay and the Bristol Channel to the Mendip Hills, Weston-super-Mare, Steep Holm and Wales. The Quantock Hills, Brendon Hills and Exmoor are a backdrop to the south. Cliff top trees restrict the view north across the Channel to Wales. The coastal path only offers glimpses of the shore of the Blue Anchor to Lilstock Coast SSSI at the base of the cliffs but it does offer a good view west to Minehead and Exmoor.

The easiest way to approach this is straight along the hedgeline from the south where a gate gives access to the arable fields. The trig is quite easy to find as it is at the edge of an opening in the hedge. Ivy still there. It looks like its been hit by machinery at some time. Nice views towards South Wales. Plug with indented lettering.
