Visited while completing a circular walk that included Whitchester & Chirdon Moor and back through Pundershaw forest. Followed S1534&Beyond 's sound advice and parked at NY 80499 80745. We did locate an alternative spot to park, as we walked along the road from Pundershaw, 10 mins before the junction we found a Forestry Car Park on the side of the road. Nice views from the Trig in all directions.

3/3 today. The first thing to note here is that this is the first log in nearly two years which I was surprised at as such a lovely area. Now armed with 2 x phone chargers after a recent incident at Greys Pike I was ready to cycle/walk this 3 mile route. There is very limited parking possible at NY 80499 80745 without blocking the gate. Re Analoguesat comment I can confirm this is still the case and don't recommend parking beyond the Kielder sign due to non existent or soft verges. I cycled to NY 78689 81850 where there is a gate which continues on access land to the trig (The B of Bannock Crag on OS 1:25k maps). There is also another gate onto access land at NY 79720 81269. There Is a faded triangle sign to the left of the gate which is unreadable. Perhaps a bull in field? I have uploaded images of both. I followed the clear ATV tracks to the summit to bag the trig. Again fantastic views. On my return I photograhed more Arwen damage beside the road. I also avoided a frog on the road and ensured he was safe before getting back to the car. I have mentioned the Fablous North website before which is a helpful resource. There is another trig site for this county, again with some helpful tips. https://northumberlandtrigs.com/ .Top score today for the weather, views and wildlife. Apart from the frog I spotted a Kestrel and Buzzards close up.

If approaching from the south east dont even think of driving past the Forestry Commission car park at the moment. Turning around is difficult as the track is very narrow & the verges are very soft and chewed up from the machinery that has been clearing the mayhem after the winter storms. Once you pass the FC place you are effectively committed to driving up to the farm to turn around. Simple access from the farm, & the pillar has excellent views in all directions.

Rising out of the ground a little but otherwise in really good nick. Did a loop up from Bellingham but paths on the ground weren't quite as obvious as we hoped - the dog managed to follow the OS app without looking at it though! Took the tarmac back. Good walk, just hotter than the weather forecast suggested so doggy had to have a lot of rests.

My second visit, different route. East from Cadger Ford via Whitchester Moor, decent tracks all the way. 4.5 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes return walk. Superb route and views, highly recommended, a much more satisfying trip than the simple route up from Watsons Walls.

A smashing location for a trig point that commands views over to Deadwater Fell, Cheviot and the Border Ridge. Faint evidence of whitewash on the pillar.

Scored an 8 for the wildlife - at roughly NY787821 there was a very splendid adder sunning itself! Walked up from Cadger Ford, the path is marked but take a compass and map if the visibility is poor.

Visited with P61 we drove up to Watson's Walls to turn round & cheekily decided to park the car at this point blocking no exits or gates.This made it an easy walk up to pillar & saved our legs not that we had used them much today.

Parked by the gate and walked up to Watsons Walls then up through the heather to the TP. Might have managed to squeeze in another TP today if we had driven the section from the gate to Watsons Walls! Still we got six today which was a decent haul. As views go, this would have been the best of the six, but was finally bettered by the tremendous Ravensheugh Crags.

Managed to park near to the end of the public road on the line of the PROW then up the private road to the farmhouse. From here though the gate and followed the fence line to the pillar. Hill overgrown with heather and bracken, decent views.

Continued to drive up road (tarmac) from end of road (gated but opens) at NY793814 to property. Room to park without blocking drive or access but permission should be sought. No one home today so left note on dash board.

Drove along lane almost to gate for Watson's Wall and managed to turn round and park where a bridleway crosses the road. This lane is very narrow with no other spots to turn, so if you are unlucky enough to get to this point and find it already taken then it's a very long reversing job to get back to the last road junction. Good luck. Great trig though.

Short walk up from the end of the road. A number of vehicles and country types around today. I think the hounds were out somewhere as I could hear the huntsman's horn. Good views on a clear day.

Parked at Bannock Crag, just room for one car, road is good to that point. Short walk up to pillar. Moderate views, Cheviot & Cross Fell might have been visible north & south if the visibility had been better.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 21st September 1951 costing £20.0s.0d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NY86/20 within the Hexham block during 1953. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1953. Last maintained by the OS in July 1966. SITE VISIT: Parked in forest track entrance at NY757833. Bagged in conjunction with neighbouring Cairnglastenhope. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces SSW, compass measurement 209°. Vented through west (left) sight hole. Open moorland with views to surrounding hills and forestry.

We parked to the south where the bridle track goes off to the north east. Walked up the road then followed the fence line to the trig. Good views. Plug with heavily indented lettering.
