Visited this one whilst in Barnstaple. Acessed the field from Derby road and then due to growing crops made my way round the fieldedge and up to the pillar. In good condition and retains an original plug. Good view point from up here.

Decided to approach from the south, so found the footpath off the minor road, crossed two stiles then headed right along the field boundary and straight to the pillar. It's on a high concrete plinth in a commanding spot overlooking the Taw estuary. No paint. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. E sighthole open, others closed. Great spot!

There's nothing like a trier! Access to this trig is actually quite easy. We parked at the end of Derby Road near the Jehovahs Witness Hall and walked east down the littery track from there. Ignore the footpath that goes off on the right bur carry along the track which seems to be well used by dog walkers etc. After passing a couple of burnt out vehicles you come to a rusty gate. Go through this then look for a path which will take you over the hedgebank into the trig field. Head for a tree on the horizon and you will come to the trig which stands alone in the scruffy grassy field. Good views over Barnstaple. Plug with indented lettering.

Hmm, N Devon is feeling like S Devon - Pillar unreachable in a field. Looks ok, but no real idea. Small road at the back of Barnstaple.

Unreachable. Taken from the roadside, if you peer hard you can see the pillar up on the ridge.
