Parked in the lay-by with the entrance to the trig. You can easily find this as it is adjacent to the large mast. You can actually see the trig from the layby. A short walk up the track gets you to it. Easy bag.

Views a bit hazy, low cloud! Shame, as I like the rolling Wolds. When you walk them, the steepness of the dales are deceptive. Parked in layby, and no issues gaining access despite being in field. Then on to a circuit of Goodmanham and Market Weighton bagging 20+ BMs along the way. Top day!

Lay-by parking then a very short trip up to the trig. It can be seen from the road next to the mast compound, it’s sighted on the edge of a very Muddy field. It has its spider and FB intact but like many is weathered and slightly leaning. Easy bag 5th of 7 today.

As most previous visitors have, I parked in the large lay-by on the A1079 by the mast compound. The trig is in the field next to the mast, a couple of hundred yards from the road and a short distance out into the field. There is a grassy hump containing a ROC post close by. There were no fences or gates to jump, no livestock to disturb and the very infant crop had sufficient gaps to enable a delicate hop to the trig. The pillar is in decent weathered condition but with a significant lean and a replacement cap, and good open views to the east. I returned the same way - a very easy pillar to access.

Parked in lay-by next to the track followed by short walk to trig point on slightly boggy ground. Couple of council workers having a pee in the bushes when I arrived! First trig of the year

Parking in Layby on A1079 to S. Had to wait 10 minutes for the layby to clear, and was about to hang it up when suddenly the other cars had gone. Under the gate and the pillar is in view, just follow a track past the masts it's not far. Pillar sits just in the field and is still stood reasonably straight in reasonable condition. Good views over the underrated Yorkshire Wolds with its chalky fields.

Easily spotted from the road next to the mast. Leaning over possibly struck by a tractor. Appears quite vulnerable and sad. Beautiful views all round.

Cycled past and saw gate open so took the opportunity. Didn't get right up to it because it was surrounded by crops and I didn't want to cause any damage. Also Royal Observer Corps Post nearby. Wonderful views of the Wolds in the evening sunshine.

Large layby due S on the A1079, short walk along a farm track to the pillar, with the Market Weighton ROC Monitoring Post adjacent. Centre cap gone, replaced with a composite disc; rear sight hole open. Extensive views, N & E good. Had to nip back to the car for a torch to explore the ROC post.

(690) Handy parking at the location. Gate open, and a short walk to the pillar. Some slight damage to the RHS. Non original plug. Pillar history: Built on the 28th of February 1951, at a cost of £14 14s 9d. Last maintained by the OS in February of 1985.

A nice convenient lay by is awating all visitors to this trig and even the gate opens easily. It's hardly worth taking the Sat Nav down off the windscreen and hiding it s you are back in the car in five minutes (but I did).

Jut off main Hull-York road east of Market Weighton. There is a lay-by on main road 2 minutes from trig. Typical rolling Wolds countryside. Close to mobile masts.
