Log #77. (43m). Leg 3 of 11.8km 4 trig walk from Glasshoughton Rail Station to Knottingley Rail Station. Walked right past one of my favorite landmarks to get here. I worked this out to be in the back yard of #4 Mill View. Looks vacant right now, and no views.

As previous log from Wordsworth Drive take any street to right heading up to find tarmac path behind houses. At top found a path through a hedge leading to an open field recognising Ted's picture. Field to nowhere however enough to claim the bagging of this former trig. Struggling to find anything to inspire round here at all. Gave it a 1 as the glimpse of Long Bull Hill trig at least confirmed reason for this one. Noted two diggers over at Long Bull - hope they are not going to touch that trig pillar. Baggers note this & keep us all informed.

View of the M62 hardly inspires. Please bare in mind that (as usual) Im on foot and as such these are instructions for that. The open ground to the south on older OS maps is less so. Private housing, with no access to the the open ground, now occupies the bottom half of the hill. Go up Wordsworth Drive and most streets to the right will give you access to a (tarmac) footpath that will take you to the summit of the hill. Good view of the motorway if that inspires you but little else. I didnt think Id do all the West Yorkshire invisibles, but I now have and am pleased I did because the odd one or two made it really worthwhile. Ive now finished all the West Yorkshire sites on this website. NCOF!

A quick snoop around the garages at the back of the houses yielded nothing. I think a house sits on top of where the trig should be so unless its a table decoration in their living room I think we can assume its gone.

Wentcliff Hill Trig used to be under third house from the left according to my GPS reading.
