Parked on the side of the minor road just south of the bridge over the old railway line. Headed south up bridleway, footpath then crosses the golf course. Continued to gain height, path muddy and narrow in places. After about three quarters of a mile reached the high point of the path and pillar. Next to one of the tee grounds for the golf course. Good views to east and south west along the coast. Pleasant location, quite a lot of golfers about, also a group of walkers stopped for a picnic beside the footpath below the pillar. Annoyingly etched FB. Cap missing. Afterwards headed to Otterton Mill tea room, recommended.

Parked in a handy layby in Castle Lane and walked via the golf course. Paths to trig are rather beautiful as you approach the coast, and the pillar itself has a secluded spot behind a bench, where it enjoys a stunning view of the sea. Bagging this one was a sheer pleasure!

Bagged as YSM0760 West Down Beacon. As per Mr U2's log, trying to say time and distance we made this a total nightmare. Parked outside caravan park and then entered. Walked through caravan park, went over bushes and through trees to enter a field. Walked along side then through hedgerow and down steep brambley bank and on to proper track. Then track disappeared and it was through the tramlines in the fields. Then went through barbed wire fence and into woods. Then followed faint tracks until found main track that took us to golf course. Walked up through that and only 60m from pillar, we got a lecture from a golfer. Once we got to the pillar it was a straightforward track down to field and across that and back into main track. Going back to the wildlife place close to caravan park. A bit of an epic this one was. #4 day#3 - Epic for all the wrong reasons! Total day#2 #11 Total day#1 #13

Parked up at the end of the path and took in a multi cache on route. Once I neared gz the views caught my eye, stunning, I never tire of the views from the south west coast path. The trigpoint was a nice easy find amongst the foliage, but there was a path up to it.

In the words of Gordon McRae in Oklahoma 'Oh what a beautiful morning' Out early after dropping my wife at work. Parked in the free car park in town. Yes there are still some of these about. A gentle climb and the job was done. Not a soul about just great. Bagged as a virtual Geocache as well.

Bear Repsov H4H bear basks in the sun. he also enjoys Geocaching as well. I see that the previous visitor is also a cacher. Small world.

I first visited here in brilliant sunshine with spectacular views of the coast. today it was really misty and there were no views at all. slight clamber up from the path to here through a gap in the gorse bushes!

Bagged trig with my dear wife during lovely 5 mile walk on coastal footpath, whilst staying in Exmouth with Mendip rambling group. Snells Pace is quite right as I had previously logged Ballard Down TP against this trig - so he is not going mad! -must have followed plymplodder!. Lovely views from trig and highlight of an excellent weekend.Plug missing.Golfers quite helpful!

This involves a walk through the golf links and woe betide you if you stray from the path (which isn't that clearly marked). We must have been about two yards from it when we were accosted by a male golfer who stated emphatically that there was no public right of way at that point and would we please follow the path proper. Obviously doesn't like mixing with the plebs... Wonderful views from the trig. Missing plug

Lovely views from here on a good day. I did this one as it's also a virtual geocache. I must be going mad but I make the flush bracket number different to what other people do. PS. I've checked now and I think I'm correct and Martin is wrong. I think he has logged the wrong trig he was at TP0989 Ballard Down.

Having read more recent comments and been a member of this golf club for a while, I'd like to apologise if a fellow member was rude. That said, I was a 'pleb' when I first visited this TP and I thought golfers were snobs too! Fantastic views from this pillar (which is behind the 16th tee), particularly of Exmouth and the Exe estuary and if you're lucky, you can watch as the golfers slice their tee shots into the sea!

White pillar in bracken overlooking the sea. Approach via golf course to pick up coast path towards Budleigh Salterton. Some walkers hitting little balls around with sticks - it must slow them down.
