Pleasant walk round perimeter of Oldbury nuclear power station. Final reactor closed down 2012. Power stn first produced electricity 1967 which seems consistent with OS record of pillar destroyed 1962 (seems reasonable it would have gone during early groundwork), but inconsistent with arranc's 1968 sighting (see first log for this trig).

The former site of the pillar is in the perimeter of Oldbury Nuclear Power Station close to the sea wall. The former pillar site looks over the estuary to the Forest of Dean and downstream to the two Severn Bridges, in profile, one directly behind the other. The Severn Estuary is a SSSI and the silt lagoons of the power station are a haven for wild life.
