Had fun getting to this one as they were re-tarmacking the B3089 but i was given the go-ahead by the road crew as long as I got off and walked along the road side, if needed. Took BW by Chapel Farm to corner of field near Cleeve Hill. Did have a bit of a problem finding a way through the hedge to get access to the field with trig in it. The trig is cracked quite badly all over. Good views. Glad this is the last one for today as legs have gone wobbly.

Parked by West Knoyle Church for an easy ascent, descent, ascent, accompanied by a couple of inquisitive horses for the steepest part of the climb. As already recorded, the pillar is significantly cracked, but has its original cap in place with one sight-hole open. It was pouring with rain - the weather forecast I saw last night promised a dry, bright day: wrong again. But my equine friends and I couldn't care less! An enjoyable (wet) romp.

May need to be reclassified from 'good' to 'slightly damaged' or even 'damaged' due to deep and extensive cracks on all sides of the pillar - looks like it's going to crumble to pieces sometime soon! Parked near Chapel Farm and walked the bridleway veering right where the path veers left. Over a couple of wire fences and onto the northern spur that comprises one side of The Warren for wonderful views to the W where the Wiltshire Downs dip into Somerset. As said, the pillar is badly cracked with the plinth exposed, no sign of leaning; one sight hole open, others sealed; original cap in place.
