Same walk as Stagbury Hill. Back to the Common and head to the north side. In the rainy season there will be a lot of puddles. Up the hill and follow the ridge until you get to get through to a residential area. Just before the gate you will find the trig. No real views.

Nice walk over the common. The Trig is up a small hill covered in gorse and bracken beside a gate.

5/13 on a New Forest trigbagging weekend. Parked at Canada Common and walked to trig along the PROW. Trig sits on a mound, just by the entrance to the wooded area. Trig is in good condition with spider and FB intact.

Just off a farm track that runs South-ish from the A36 Salisbury Road. Follow the track for about 300 metres until the dog-leg left turn at Corner Cottage. The pillar is on the right just after the gate. Easily accessible and decent views to the South West.

Lovely location on the edge of the new forest. Dedicated to Laurie Stoate-Finmore. Parked at Canada Common car park and walked about half a mile up to it from there

About 400 metres south of the A36 through West Wellow, over cattle grid at entrance to track, uphill to car park on right. Not signposted from the road to walked up the track. Pillar on right at top of track. Easy find and accessible. Good views towards south west across Common and New Forest.

One of my favourites so far. Beautiful New Forest scenery on Canada Common.

Pillar at corner of a rather pitted track, opposite the last of a row of houses. Small memorial plaque attached. Pretty location, offering a superb view from behind the pillar. Got hectored by an inquisitive brown dog on the walk past the houses - a very vocal creature, but a very dopey one, too!

[New Forest rainy day Trig hunt] another pretty view point, short walk from Canada

Got to this trig by going down track from A36. Loads of big lorries zooming down it. (A36 that is, not track) The track is a fave with dog walking companies. Saw 3 vans parked there. And had to be careful as some dogs were running free down the track. Trig has nice views.

Yes, you can drive up the unmade road to a carpark quite close. Which was good as it started thundering and hailing as we arrived. Accordingly a very short visit. Suspect it would have scored higher had the sun still be shining!

A bit windy by the trigpoint, lovely evening though, lots of dog walkers and horse riders.

Windy at the top. Easy to find, small car park about 5 mins away.

Quick and easy stop off en route home, although I wouldn't have been confident turning into the approach lane had it not been for another bagger's log, thanks. Views south on a sunny evening across usual flat New Forest scenery. Memorial plaque to a man of that wonderful profession, an OS surveyor. Asphalt cap, SE s/hole open, two significant chipped corners but otherwise good condition.

Easy access by driving off the A36(T) over the cattle grid, thus into the New Forest. Good parking after 150m where the signs warns no vehicls to proceed other than for access (one could probably argue that they are accessing the trig!). A short pleasant walk up the lane was preferable though, the trig being located behind a gorse bush at the corner of the residential properties and is come upon suddenly. Pillar is generally in good condition but for some chipping of the concrete along the top edges/corners. 1 sight hole is open, the others sealed; the cap has been replaced by a tarmac plug. New Forest ponies abound and are quite tame, one nuzzled my hand - but lost interest when there was no food forthcoming. Extensive views East and North, obscured West and South across the park though.

Approached this one from Wellow village, walking through, and round, the many ponies gathered here. Must have passed this trig thousands of times over the years on the road to Salisbury, plus the Cuckoo at Hamptworth!

Memorial plaque on the east side of the pillar. West Wellow Common experiences heavy grazing from commoners' cattle, which has left it almost free of heather (unlike, for example, the commons on the Avon side of the New Forest).
