Happened to be driving passed with CherryBubb when I suddenly realised how high up we were. I pulled over and checked the OS map to see if there were any trigs nearby and this one was less than 1 mile away. Pulled into a quiet road and managed to park less than 700 meters from the trig. Approached through a wooded gate and a sraight forward approach across the moor although slightly boggy in parts. Good views from up here. Surprisingly another couple appeared from nowhere when we were half way to the trig. Pillar in good condition with centre cap still in place.

From minor road, due S over rough, poor quality pasture. Trig sits atop summit barrow on what the OS map names as Five Burrows Hill, surely a typo for Five Barrows Hill... as there are 5 barrows here. Despite that they name the trig something completely different. Retains original metal top cap, lightly indented lettering; all sight holes open. Extensive panoramic views.

Parked almost due N in large layby with easy access to moor through gate - definitely the nearest car parking point. Soggy trudge up the hill following the fenceline bearing 2 straggly trees. Beautiful weather, great location and magnificent views - best trig of the day!

Made getting to this one more difficult than was needed. I spent ages looking for a suitable fence crossing place on the road to the north-east. Eventually arrived at the gate at SS 73234 37244 which made access very easy. Then a track led almost straight to the pillar which is situated on something of a mound. Pillar is in good condition and retains an original plug. Another nice view point.

This one stands near the highest point in North Devon. Exmoor's highest dewpond is also found a short walk away. Excellent views across to Dartmoor, the upper Mole valley and Hartland Point can be seen here. The flush bracket seems to be in excellent condition, one of the clearest to read I've seen. This is now Exmoor's highest surviving trig, since the OS have removed the one on Dunkery Hill.
