Gorgeous views in all directions from the top on a chilly December afternoon. Ascent from Cowdenmains, then anticlockwise round the hill up the eastern flank, then back down the gentle path to the north east. Central plug missing.

First of the holidays storms, beautiful little hill, went off to the trail by Leader Water and then back via Redpath. Whoever put the path together did a fine colour - needed the glowing Autumn colour as a contrast for the hectic skirl of the sky.

Up here to do a bit of climbing and a chance to get some pillars. This one is all intact with the original plug - deeply indented letters. Quite a lot of white paint except on S face. W sighthole blocked, the others clear. Concrete base undercut and exposed about 6" on all sides except W. Excellent allround views. The pillar is close to some old vertical steel stakes and perhaps this was once a quarry? On short-grassed hill.

Flush bracket S7402 was levelled for height in 1955. This marker was comuted as secondary station NT72/2 in the Jedburgh block in 1957 and was last maintained by the OS in 1986. This station has since been preserved as a passive station on the GPS network. No photos taken.
