A nice easy one, with handy grass verge you can quickly park on and bag. (It sits on its side on the hedgy corner twixt field and road). View all around isn't bad, although I would recommend bringing some cutters if viewing in summer - was a bit of a game to get to the flush bracket through the hedge (I still have the scars).

It is a tragedy the way this pillar has been treated. My last visit In SEPT 2010 had it at an angle after the farmer has clearly hit it. It now lies injured in the hedgerow and cast aside. I would like to think it could be stood up and securely sited on the road side of the hedge and be classed as moved. Come on OS how about it?

I knew from previous logs that this pillar had been dumped in the hedge - but there was a lot of hedge to search! Fortunately, despite the now dense undergrowth, I found the pillar very quickly. There is a large, inviting pull-in, right at the junction, which you will find is next to where the pillar has been deposited. It is now situated (deep in the hedge) at: SJ 77935 13272 (N52 42.999 W002 19.684)

New location Convenient pull-in, at the junction with the A41.

Itís been dumped in the hedge on the inside point of the field where Plough Bank meets the A41 ... and pretty recently judging by the fresh tractor tracks on the grass leading up to the dumping point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO2QwNX8LPM

I must have passed this trig point many times as a young boy on our way to north Wales on family holidays without ever seeing it. The pillar is so clear on the skyline as you approach along to B5314 towards the junction with the A41. Left bike on verge and nipped over fence to pillar. Field newly planted with germinated cereal shoots showing. Took care to retrace my steps over approach prints. Views good south.

Red paint is still visible. The angle is rakish!©sven
