5/6 today. Parked near South Monkridge Bridge without blocking any gates and took the steep and swampy route up to the trig on access land to avoid any potential livestock. Evidence of bovines churning up the sodden ground. Fantastic views now the rain had gone. Slight damage on the top.

Parked at East Woodburn and reached the trig by walking to Raylees and following straight forward footpath through farm up to trig. Return journey to car more problematic as woods still showing a lot of storm damage making it difficult for walking. Probably best to avoid this part of the route.

Parked at entrance to Raylees Forest which is north of East Woodburn village. Short walk along forest track before picking up right of way to the trig. It was a 4 mile round trip but extremely peaceful and clearly not a well walked area. Be warned if taking the route about halfway up the ROW are a lot of fallen trees and you need agility and athleticism to get over, under and around them. ROW leads out of the forest and up on the moor where it is a short walk to the trig. Some excellent views.

From Raylees. Safe parking a couple of hundred yards up the minor road to Elsdon - room for a couple of cars on the verge by the barns. After that its a simple walk acreoss the farm on the footpath. No alpacas today, just sheep, and its amazing to see the wrecked sheds on the hillside destroyed by the winter gales - one of the roofs is the other side of the path a good couple of hundred yards away from its original location. The access land is a bit boggy but its been dry recently, so no wet feet. Fantastic views from the top, Carter Bar right aliong the Border ridge to The Cheviot & beyond up to the north, and far away to the south Cross Fell, & Little & Great Dun Fells were clearly visible. Very recently repainted white & looking very smart. sadly the magnificent views to the south will be eliminated by a plantation in about 10 years time.

Parked in lay-bye 200yds west of Raylees. Walked footpath through farm and up to the trig point. The waymarking through the farm looks to all new signs. So a bit easier to follow. Once out onto the open fell the route is not too well defined, look out for the 1st gate which passes through the high deer fencing. A bit boggy in places and rough grassland.

Parked at double gate NY 903884 followed forestry track to the mast and turned N up well marked ROW through the plantation. It was so icy cold that sections of the forestry tracks around the mast that might have been quagmire were easily negotiated. The path once clear of where vehicles have churned it up was a delight, with the frost as thick as it was there was a air of 'Narnia' to the woods. Beyond Fellhouse Crags the forest has been felled, however the ROW remains mostly unimpaired by brash. The views N open up, The Cheviots were all crowned with snow and looked amazing. By the time we reached the TP there was not a cloud in the sky, the sun was starting to set and the views were stunning. I'm sure the 'quick route' up from the Alpaca farm is interesting, but I'd highly recommend this route if you fancy a decent stroll!

Earthworks to cross and uphill through an interesting layout of horse field or some other animal, each with their own wooden stable/shelter. Never saw any animals.
