My second visit, different route - from the SE parked just before Swinhoe Farm and followed ROW through delightful woods past Swinhoe Lake before cutting W up SCW. Views of Holy Island made more spectacular by rolling sea fret swirling round the castle. Views to the W on a cloudless day were just stunning.

Parked at the car park to the SW. Followed the squelchy lane to the NE and then the track to St. Cuthbert’s Cave. After an explore, climbed up through the trees to the style at the top. Followed the track NW through the heather to the trig. Quickly took readings and photos and headed down as it was getting dark. With CJ.

Parked at Old Hazelrigg and walked north a short way along StCW before heading E along a 'footpath' through a plantation (its on the map, but it's long since been overgrown and traceless) skirting the northern slopes of the delightfully named Dancing Green Hill, before eventually finding the forest track leading NE to Dick's Oldwalls (another great name) before taking footpath NW across fields to TP and back via the cave & StCW. A route that looked good on paper but the section through the wood I would not recommend to anybody!! Once reached though, the TP is in a superb location affording fantastic views over Holy Island east and the northern Cheviot Hills to the west, I have this TP ear-marked for repeat visits in the future...though probably sticking to the tourist route from Holburn Grange next time!
