HISTORY: Pillar completed on 7th August 1954 costing £19.2s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation NX29/T29 during 1955. Levelled for height to Class 1 precision, tertiary standards in 1973. Last maintained by the OS in May 1985. SITE VISIT: Parking on hard surface off road where the tarmac ceases at NX167846. Walked mapped track to point nearest pillar then up, no boundaries to cross. Pillar in reasonable condition, horizontal crack not too threatening. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow lettering. Spider faces 71° ENE. Vented through FB face. GPS reception poor for no apparent reason.
