Parked at pull in near Gorsty Farm. Took the RoW for a while and found a MTB trail taking us all the way to the trig pretty much. Had to look out for mountain bikes flying towards us though. None about today thankfully. There is a view north from the trig. High cloud/sun. No one about. Earlier that day we bagged Wart Hill trig.

A fabulous treat in an otherwise washed out day. Consoling all day breakfast as we escape Welshpool, then Ludlow... St Lawrence and its misericords, stocked up on proper apples and local cheese. Then just before a heavy grey comes in from Wales this glorious hill just on the border of Herefordshire. The Clee glowing eastward the impenetrable long lines of mid and south Wales beyond High Vinnals. Also some rather fine ink caps on the track near the tiny car park. Next stop our Shropshire getaway.

A notice by the pillar advises bikers that it's an 'extreem' downhill course and full body armour must be worn, not a good way up at the weekend.

Many visits, mostly before the coming of the fat wheeled bike. Never seen the name before. Its on Bringewood's 2nd summit and usually known as Bringewood. The highest point of the forest, falsly called by outsiders as "Mortimer Forest" a foul infliction, is High Vinnalls but that used to be always covered in Scots pines so the surveyors went for the then bald summit across the valley. I have never heard of Maryknoll having a trig, but it did used to have a TV mast, often an objective for a walk. This is amongst the select band of trig pillars I have skied to. Views limited even before the trees grew by the nearby bulk of High Vinnalls and Maryknoll, separated by Sunny Gutter.
