Sadly, after decades of trigging, our first case of very aggressive GOML from Mrs Farmer (as Mick and Kim's log). We were surprised as we had approached through open gates and empty pastures from the N, but we were undoubtedly trespassing so made our apologies and left in a hurry. Ironic, as I think the land belongs to Vicarage Farm, in one of whose holiday cottages we stayed many years back, in my lazier days of trig bagging. Luckily had reached the trig before this happened, so can report E s/hole open, metal cap shallow letters, vgc, but didn't have time to take in the views!

Second of two trigs of the day out strolling with my mate Tracker Dog. Walked up from Castleton via Cavedale visiting the trig at Bradwell Moor. Approached trig from nearby Water Lane, a short nip up the fields though farming family was bringing in cows along Water Lane as we were returning to it, they gave us a friendly wave however. Maybe it wasn't their land. Good views all round, Dark Peak in the N and White Peak in the S.

From Wormhill pillar back down to the road then East to Hayward Farm. Here I was confronted by a couple of rather fierce border collies in the farmyard but thankfully they were on chains. Closer inspection of my map shows the PROW passes through the trees just East of the farm before emerging onto the farm track a little further on. Followed this mucky track and then the PROW across fields to Dale Head. Continued along Wheston Bank into the village were I had a chat with a very friendly farmer and his old dog. Look out for the rheas in one of the fields at the bottom of the village - they are ostrich like birds native to S America. Asked about the trig point and was directed to The Top Farm at the other end of the village. Did the decent thing and knocked on the door to ask for permission given previous comments about this farmer. No answer even though there were several cars on the driveway. The dog curled up in the porch didn't even bark. So, back down Wheston Bank and along Water Ln. After a good look around I then hopped over a gate and made my way up the hill, sticking close to the walls for cover. A few cows present but they were non-threatening. Through one open gateway to the pillar (which is in full view of the farm). A quick couple of snaps before retreating back down to Water Ln. Pillar is in good condition with original metal cap having indented lettering. Didn't hang around to admire the scenery as I didn't want to get caught by the Jolly Farmer !! Followed the Pennine Bridleway and Limestone Way back to Millers Dale.

Mr Farmer was out gathering hay in the field I was going to trespass across, so I thought better of it. Parked at the south end of Water Lane where lots of milk-heavy cows were awaiting being led away - didn't want to be amongst that. Turned right at the path along the lane but still no obvious discrete route. Then on the stroke of five the last bit of hay was lifted and Mr F returned home. Obviously an ex office worker. Still not inclined to trapse across to the pillar. Give me this one. Please.

One of my last pillars in The Peak National Park. Parked in Cressbrook Dale and walked up Millers Dale and Tideswell Dale. Approched from the track to the east – over the wall and up one field to the gate – only in view of the farm from the pillar just beyond the gate. Good views but didn’t hang about. No problem with farmer Giles today. Returned down the Pennine Bridleway and The Monsall Trail in increasing summer rain.

Bus to Taddington Village nice day, snow and ice everywhere.Descents were highly dangerous due to the ice underfoot and the ascents up were no better.Eventually made the pillar ,great views with the whole of the Peak District snow covered.Decided to change route so descended to Monk Dale into Millars Dale.It was here another route change took place.Coming along the road a group of chinese students dressed for shopping.Eventually managed to convince them they were going the wrong way for Buxton so escorted them up the Limestone Way to Taddington Junction on the A6 and a bus stop for there destination. It made was nice to be of help and I enjoyed their company and seemingly lack of concern for the conditions. My bus south arrives and as we get into Taddington Village the bus north comes through so hope they got on it.
