This is now no longer quite so buried under the gorse - I took a pair of garden cutters with me this morning, and cut the vegetation back quite hard. That's re-exposed the top plug nicely.

Well, this is my 500th trig. I fondly imagined this landmark would be reached in some spectacular location like Scafell Pike - but here I am, parked up in a potato field on a narrow lane NW of Wolverhampton! Still, they all count..... This one is easy to find, just through a gap in the hedge on the side of a barley field. It's all intact, with the original plug - slightly-indented letters. The top is covered with thick gorse which needs to be prised up gently to see the plug. White-painted, with all sightholes below soil level. Goods views W over Shropshire and E towards Wolverhampton. A very busy lane at this time of night with all the affluent Black Country workers returning to their rural retreats!
